HISTORY ASPECTS:
The T34-85 was a significant evolution of the original T-34 medium tank, developed by the Soviet Union during World War II. Introduced in 1944, the 85mm gun upgrade was a direct response to the increasing threat posed by German heavy tanks such as the Tiger I and Panther. One of the most prominent variants of this tank was the T-34-85 produced at Factory No. 112, also known as the Krasnoye Sormovo plant in Gorky. This factory was known for its slightly distinct turret casting style and simplified features to maximize wartime production without compromising performance.
Factory 112’s T-34-85s entered frontline service during the final and most intense phase of the Eastern Front. They played a key role in Soviet offensives such as Operation Bagration and the Vistula–Oder Offensive, pushing German forces back into Eastern Europe. Their improved gun and armor allowed them to go head-to-head with the latest German armor in combined arms formations. The T-34-85 proved to be not just a tank, but a symbol of Soviet resilience and industrial strength during the war's closing chapters.
After the war, Factory 112 T-34-85s were widely exported and saw combat across multiple continents. They were used in the Korean War by North Korean forces, in the Middle East by Egypt and Syria, and even during conflicts in Africa and Southeast Asia throughout the Cold War era. Their continued presence on battlefields long after World War II underscored the durability and influence of their design.
This 1:35 scale model captures the distinctive wartime production features and robust Soviet engineering of the iconic tank. With accurate turret shape, roadwheel details, and optional stowage accessories, it’s an essential piece for collectors, diorama builders, and history buffs passionate about armored warfare.
